One of the biggest variable costs on a farm today is equipment maintenance. No matter what kind of equipment you run, it will at some point require some level of investment to keep it running. At Pillar we always have the time and financial cost of maintenance as one of our key design considerations. While we also focus on developing tools that are advanced and precise, the need for, and cost of upkeep is always in the forefront.
While designing our MKIII opener we integrated a way to grease the disc hub while in use. Once that was in place we worked with several established companies to create a system that can grease every point on the Pillar drills, minus the packer wheels, automatically. Not only will this save a ton of time and energy, it will also save farmers money in the mid to long term. Automatic greasing systems are already used in many other industries, and numbers show bearing life can be doubled, if not more.
